The LINGUIST List provides an Amazon Echo / Alexa Flash Briefing service. You can subscribe to the most recent announcements on LINGUIST List using your Alexa App, or you can select any combination of the specific posting areas. If you want Alexa to inform you about new job ads or just book announcements, here is how!

Step 1:


Login in to your Amazon Alexa account online or on your mobile device. If you do not have the Amazon Alexa app, you can find it on any of these devices: Amazon Echo, FireTV, Kindle Fire HD, iOS, Android. Once the app is downloaded, set up your Amazon device as described. When you are finished return to the homepage to being setting up your LINGUIST List Flash Briefing!

You can also access your account by going to The LINGUIST List Flash Briefing page on amazon and logging in to your account there.

Click on the three lines in the upper left-hand corner of your Amazon Alexa App. From here you can select Skills. This will take you to the Skills page where you can search for different Amazon Alexa skills.

Once logged in you should see a button on the right-hand side that says enable skill. Click this button to enable the LINGUIST List Flash Briefing for Amazon Alexa. From here you can manage your flash briefing by clicking manage skill. Doing so will allow you to set up your Amazon Echo and take you to your Alexa App page. On the left-hand side of the screen click Skills to take you to the skills page and follow along with the steps below.

Once on the Skills page, you can browse popular skills or search for specific ones. In the search bar, where it says search all skills type LINGUIST List Flash Briefing.

Once you have searched for LINGUIST List Flash Briefing you should see an option like the image to the right. Click this image to be taken to the skill page and press enable to activate the LINGUIST List Flash Briefing.

Step 5:

To alter the settings of your LINGUIST List Flash Briefing, select settings. To disable the LINGUIST List Flash Briefing, select Disable.

Step 6:

From the settings page, select Manage Flash Briefings. This will allow you to add certain topics to your flash briefings.

Upon enabling the LINGUIST List Flash Briefing, most recent posts are automatically turned on. To add specific posts to your Flash Briefing, all you need to do is select the downward arrow next the the LINGUIST List section of the Flash Briefing settings page.

Step 8:

This will open a selection menu of the available topic areas for the LINGUIST List Flash Briefing. Select which ones you want by sliding the beside the topic so it is blue. This will add it to your daily Flash Briefing reader.

Step 9:

Once you have selected your topics and have set up your Flash Briefing all you need to say to get your Amazon Echo or Amazon Alexa app to work is say "Alexa, what's my Flash Briefing?" or "Alexa, what's in the news?". Alexa will tell you all of the latest updates from the LINGUIST List on your selected areas!
